Maariv — Rahm on Bibi: “not a strategic partner” and “doubts about his seriousness and integrity”
Not to be outdone by Yediot’s two-day streak of leaks on Rahm Emanuel and Israel (“We’re tired of you” and “Obama to visit Israel by mid 2010,”) Maariv’s Ben Caspit has squeezed his own cable out of a Foreign Ministry source.
Pity the diplomat who has to clean up the debris of a leak-based Yediot-Maariv war. This mess is on Michael Oren‘s plate and Jeremy Ben Ami’s sympathy is very timely.
Excerpt from column, Ben Caspit, Maariv Friday Political Supplement, January 8 2010 [page 2]
Over the past few weeks, Rahm Emanuel has begun [background] briefing again and the summary of what he says, as received in Jerusalem, is: “Over time, we don’t see in Netanyahu a strategic partner. We have doubts about his seriousness and integrity. True, at this point the Palestinians are the problem, but we expected more cooperation from Israel as an ally.”
